RADD ® – The Entertainment Industry’s Voice for Road Safety – is pleased to announce its partnership with Lyft®, Responsibility.org, Fullerton Police Department, and other valued partners in the Orange County Ride Smart Coalition beginning Memorial Day Weekend. Lyft Launches Orange County “Ride Smart Coalition”
Partners Commit $25,000 to Prevent Impaired Driving & Driving-Related Fatalities

ORANGE COUNTY, CA (May 15, 2019) – This Memorial Day Weekend, Lyft announces its Orange County “Ride Smart Coalition” in collaboration with local partners committed to providing a responsible ride option and discounted rides on weekends and holidays where there is a potential for increased alcohol consumption. Lyft’s year-round coalition includes the local police, entertainment venues, alcohol brands, as well as national partners committed to reducing impaired driving and driving-related fatalities.

This Memorial Day Weekend, Lyft’s Ride Smart Coalition is offering $5 off Lyft rides anywhere in Orange County for those who enter the code “OCRIDESMART” into the Lyft app any time between 8:00 PM on May 24th through 4:00 AM on May 28th.

“We’re proud to bring together this coalition, which consists of important local institutions as well as national partners to provide passengers with a reliable alternative to driving under the influence,” said Elliot Greenberger, Market Manager of Lyft in Southern California. “Whether you are celebrating in the Orange Circle, bar hopping on the Balboa Peninsula, or getting together at a friend’s house, we want everyone to plan ahead with a smart ride during the long weekend and other holidays throughout the year.”

“Our goal is to eliminate DUI-related accidents and fatalities completely,” said Tony Rios, Lieutenant of the Fullerton Police Department. “We encourage locals and tourists to make the responsible choice and utilize smart transportation options when they are heading out and going back home. We thank Lyft for their shared commitment to this goal and the entire Ride Smart Coalition members’ contributions that will truly save lives.”

Lyft and its Ride Smart Coalition partners also plan to provide credits for more holidays throughout the year, including:
Fourth of July
Labor Day Weekend
Halloween
Thanksgiving Eve
New Years Eve

Additional Ride Smart codes will be shared throughout the year right before each aforementioned holiday.
